The approval strengthens Falken’s long-standing relationship with Porsche and highlights the increasing role premium tyre manufacturers are playing in the transition to high-performance electric vehicles.

OE Fitment:

  • Front: 255/55R20 110Y XL
  • Rear: 305/45R20 116Y XL

Falken will be sharing fitment on the Porsche with The specially developed tyre package has been engineered exclusively for the Cayenne Electric and carries Porsche’s prestigious NG0 homologation marking.

Interestingly, Falken is not the sole original equipment tyre supplier for the new electric Porsche Cayenne. Yokohama has also confirmed an OE fitment for the model with its ADVAN Sport EV.

Why Porsche Chose It

Unlike a conventional performance SUV, the Cayenne Electric places significantly greater demands on its tyres.

The instant delivery of electric torque, increased vehicle mass and the need to maximise driving range require a careful balance between grip, efficiency and durability.

Falken says its bespoke AZENIS FK520 (NG0) uses a specially developed rubber compound and staggered front and rear tyre configuration to complement Porsche’s chassis tuning, delivering agile handling, strong traction, high-speed stability and improved rolling efficiency without compromising the vehicle’s performance credentials.

As more electric performance vehicles arrive in Australia, OE-developed tyres such as the AZENIS FK520 (NG0) will become increasingly important when replacement time arrives, ensuring owners retain the handling, efficiency and safety characteristics engineered into the vehicle from the factory.

Lexus Australia specification confirms two tyre sizes across the new ES range:

  • ES 300h Luxury: 19-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels with 235/55R19 tyres (Dunlop Approval)
  • ES 350e Sports Luxury: 21-inch alloy wheels with 235/45R21 tyres (Michelin Approval)
  • ES 500e Sports Luxury: 21-inch alloy wheels with full wheel ornaments and 235/45R21 tyres (Michelin Approval)

The approved tyre is supplied in 235/55R19 101V, with its development focused on supporting the quietness, ride comfort and efficiency expected from Lexus’s next-generation electrified luxury sedan.

Dunlop says the tread pattern has been optimised to reduce road noise, while a newly developed tread compound lowers rolling resistance and helps extend electric driving range. The tyre has also been tuned to provide the ride quality and cabin refinement required for the new ES.

The e. SPORT MAXX is finished with Dunlop’s proprietary Nano Black sidewall technology, which creates deeper black lettering and improves the visibility of the tyre’s logos. This gives the original-equipment tyre a more premium appearance suited to the Lexus ES.

The Porsche-approved tyres carry the ‘NA2’ sidewall marking and use a staggered fitment:

  • Front: 235/40 ZR19
  • Rear: 295/35 ZR20

Both sizes were developed specifically for the performance characteristics and rear-engine, rear-wheel-drive configuration of the 911 Carrera.

Hankook says the development program focused on four key performance areas, including steering response, high-speed stability and wet and dry grip.

A new compound was also created for the fitment, combining specialised resins and silica with an updated mixing process. According to Hankook, the compound is designed to deliver consistently high grip during sporty driving while maintaining reliable performance on wet roads.

Unlike development programs conducted primarily at a single proving ground, the Porsche 911 Carrera fitment was evaluated across several European test facilities.

Lane-change and handling testing took place at Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany and the IDIADA proving ground near Barcelona. High-speed dry handling was assessed at the Nardò Technical Center in southern Italy, while wet handling development included testing at Pferdsfeld in Germany.
