Bridgestone operates one of Australia’s largest manufacturer-backed tyre retail networks, combining Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto stores with Bridgestone Service Centres across metropolitan, regional and rural Australia.
A 2026 analysis of the Bridgestone store network identifies 365 Australian locations, comprising 220 Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto stores and 145 Bridgestone Service Centres.
The distinction between the two formats is important. Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto is primarily aimed at passenger car, SUV and 4WD customers and has increasingly expanded into mechanical servicing. Bridgestone Service Centres generally have a stronger regional and commercial presence, with some locations supporting truck, bus, agricultural and other commercial tyre applications.
Unlike independent multi-brand retailers such as Bob Jane T-Marts or JAX Tyres & Auto, Bridgestone’s retail network is directly connected to one of the world’s largest tyre manufacturers. The stores consequently focus on tyres distributed by Bridgestone Australia, principally Bridgestone, Firestone, Supercat and Dayton.
Bridgestone’s Australian History
Bridgestone’s Australian retail presence sits within a much larger tyre business.
Bridgestone Australia is part of Japan’s Bridgestone Corporation and today employs or supports more than 1,900 people across Australia and New Zealand. Its Australian head office is in Adelaide, South Australia.
Its Australian franchise history predates the Bridgestone Select brand itself.
Bridgestone says it has supported franchise owners since 1986, giving the company around four decades of experience operating franchised tyre businesses in Australia.
The retail model familiar to Australian motorists today arrived considerably later.
Bridgestone Select Arrives in 2006
Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto was launched in Australia in 2006.
The concept provided Bridgestone with a more consistent consumer-facing retail identity while creating a franchise network built around Bridgestone’s products, systems and national marketing.
Over time, the concept also evolved beyond tyres.
Mechanical servicing became an increasingly important part of the Select proposition, reflected in the current Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto name and services including logbook servicing, brakes, suspension and general automotive repairs.
A significant milestone came in December 2024, when Bridgestone Select Werribee in Victoria became the 200th Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto location opened since the format was launched in 2006.
The network has continued expanding since then, with TreadTorque’s current store data identifying 220 Select locations.

Bridgestone’s Australian Retail Network
Bridgestone has been involved in Australian tyre retailing for decades, with the company tracing its Australian franchise operations back to 1986.
The Bridgestone Select concept was introduced in 2006 and has subsequently developed into the company’s main consumer-facing retail format. In December 2024, Bridgestone announced the opening of its 200th Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto store at Werribee in Victoria.
The network has continued to expand since then.
Based on TreadTorque’s current store database, the Australian network comprises:
| State/Territory | Bridgestone Select | Service Centre | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Queensland | 75 | 30 | 105 |
| Victoria | 43 | 29 | 72 |
| New South Wales | 37 | 31 | 68 |
| South Australia | 26 | 27 | 53 |
| Western Australia | 30 | 16 | 46 |
| Tasmania | 3 | 6 | 9 |
| ACT | 6 | 2 | 8 |
| Northern Territory | 0 | 4 | 4 |
| Australia | 220 | 145 | 365 |
The geographical spread also demonstrates why Bridgestone maintains two different store formats. Select dominates the network nationally, but Service Centres become proportionally more important in regional markets and states with significant agricultural and commercial vehicle activity.
South Australia, for example, has almost equal numbers of Select stores and Service Centres, while Tasmania has twice as many Service Centres as Select locations. The Northern Territory is serviced entirely through the Service Centre format in the current store list.
What’s the Difference Between Bridgestone Select and a Bridgestone Service Centre?
For most consumers, Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto is the Bridgestone store they are most likely to encounter.
Select stores are predominantly focused on passenger cars, SUVs and 4WDs. Alongside tyre replacement, stores typically provide services such as wheel balancing, wheel alignment and puncture repairs, while the network has increasingly expanded into general automotive servicing.
Bridgestone Service Centres share much of the passenger tyre capability of Select stores but can have a significantly broader role.
Depending on the location, a Service Centre may supply tyres for passenger vehicles, 4WDs and light commercial vehicles as well as trucks, buses, agricultural equipment, industrial equipment and even earthmoving machinery.
This distinction is particularly important in regional Australia, where a tyre retailer may need to service everything from the family SUV to a farm vehicle or heavy truck.
However, the Bridgestone Service Centre name does not mean every location offers every commercial tyre service. Capabilities vary between individual stores, so customers looking for truck, agricultural or specialist tyres should check the services offered by their local centre before visiting.
What Tyre Brands Do Bridgestone Stores Sell?
As a manufacturer-backed network, the tyre range is naturally centred around brands within the Bridgestone portfolio.
The principal brand is Bridgestone, covering products from mainstream passenger tyres through to performance, SUV, 4WD and commercial applications.
Stores can also offer other brands but they will focus on brands within Bridgestone’s Australian portfolio, including Firestone, Supercat and Dayton, depending on the product category and store.
Selected commercial locations also have access to Bandag, Bridgestone’s truck tyre retreading business.
The advantage is that Bridgestone can offer several product and price tiers without moving outside its own brand portfolio.
The trade-off for consumers is that Bridgestone Select should primarily be considered a manufacturer-aligned retailer rather than a broad multi-brand independent tyre store. If comparing several competing tyre manufacturers is important to you, it can be worthwhile obtaining an additional quote from a multi-brand retailer.
More Than Tyres
Like JAX, Bridgestone has increasingly expanded its consumer retail proposition beyond tyre replacement.
At Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto, services can include:
- Tyre fitting and replacement
- Puncture repairs
- Wheel balancing
- Wheel alignment
- Logbook servicing
- Brake servicing and repairs
- Suspension
- General automotive repairs
- Vehicle safety inspections
- Batteries
- Wheels and tyre packages
Not every service is necessarily available at every location.
The mechanical offering is particularly associated with Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto, while Service Centres can have different capabilities depending on their location and customer base.
Bridgestone Tech Check
One feature of the Select servicing model is Bridgestone Tech Check.
Rather than relying solely on a telephone explanation when something is discovered during servicing, participating stores can provide customers with a short video showing components of their vehicle and explaining what may require attention.
Bridgestone describes the system as providing customers with a view of what needs fixing immediately and what can wait.
The idea is particularly relevant when a tyre retailer also provides mechanical servicing.
Customers may arrive for tyres or routine servicing and subsequently receive recommendations concerning brakes, suspension or other components. Being able to see the component being discussed can provide additional context before authorising the repair.
Bridgestone Benefits
Bridgestone also operates an ongoing tyre-care program called Bridgestone Benefits.
Australian retail customers purchasing two or more eligible Bridgestone, Firestone or Supercat passenger, SUV or selected light-truck tyres in one transaction can qualify for the program.
It includes scheduled complimentary tyre maintenance checks at:
3 months / 5,000 km
6 months / 10,000 km
12 months / 20,000 km
18 months / 30,000 km
24 months / 40,000 km
30 months / 50,000 km
The checks include tyre pressure, tyre condition and wear, and rotation requirements. Other program benefits include free puncture repair subject to the applicable terms and conditions.
This gives Bridgestone an ongoing connection with the customer after the original tyre purchase and encourages regular inspection rather than waiting until the tyres are approaching replacement.
Tyre Warranties and Wear Life Guarantee
Bridgestone offers several different warranty and tyre ownership programs, but eligibility varies according to the tyre purchased.
Selected tyres can also receive Road Hazard Warranty coverage.
There is a separate Wear Life Guarantee for eligible Bridgestone Turanza Serenity Plus tyres.
Bridgestone Tyre Price Promise
Bridgestone also operates a Tyre Price Promise through Bridgestone Select and Bridgestone Service Centres, however this seems to only be on Bridgestone product.
The competing fitting centre must generally be within 50 km of the nominated Bridgestone store and have the tyre available for the requested booking date.
Importantly, the comparison is based on a fully fitted tyre price.
Some products and purchases are excluded, including Turanza Serenity Plus and Supercat tyres under the current conditions, because those patterns are exclusive to the Bridgestone Select and Service Centre network.
A Different Kind of Tyre Choice
The biggest difference between Bridgestone and an independent multi-brand retailer is the range from which the recommendation is being made.
A Bridgestone retailer has access to several brands and numerous tyre patterns, but those products predominantly sit within the Bridgestone portfolio.
A franchise owner may choose to offer another branded tyre on request, however it will be sourced either through independent wholesale channels or at a price point from the authorised wholesalers that may not make the offer as competitive as a major customer like Bob Jane T-Marts or Jax Tyres & Auto.
That isn’t inherently an advantage or disadvantage. It simply changes the nature of the buying decision.
A consumer who has already decided that they want a Bridgestone, Firestone, Supercat or Dayton product can compare different options within the range.
A consumer who has not chosen a manufacturer may want to compare that recommendation against products offered elsewhere.
Useful questions include:
Why are you recommending this tyre for my driving?
What is the alternative at the next price point?
What am I gaining or giving up between those two tyres?
Is there another tyre in the Bridgestone range better suited to wet grip, comfort, mileage or my particular vehicle?
The objective should be to understand the recommendation rather than simply buying the first tyre that fits.
What to Know Before Visiting Bridgestone
There are several important points consumers should understand about the network.
There are two main store formats. Bridgestone Select Tyre & Auto is primarily the consumer tyre and automotive servicing format, while Bridgestone Service Centres can have a broader regional and commercial focus.
It is a manufacturer-backed retail network. The principal tyre brands are Bridgestone, Firestone, Supercat and Dayton rather than a broad selection of competing manufacturers.
Select stores increasingly provide mechanical servicing. Depending on the location, this can include logbook servicing, brakes, suspension, safety checks and general repairs.
Service Centre capabilities can vary. Some locations cater for passenger vehicles while others extend into fleet, truck, bus or agricultural tyre services.
Look beyond the initial tyre price. Programs such as Bridgestone Benefits, Road Hazard Warranty and the Wear Life Guarantee on eligible tyres can form part of the overall ownership proposition.
Ask why a particular tyre is being recommended. The store is part of the Bridgestone network, so recommendations will generally be made from within Bridgestone Australia’s product portfolio.
