From Local Manufacturer to Global Contender
Shandong Linglong Tire Co., Ltd. is one of the clearest examples of how far Chinese tyre manufacturers have come over the past few decades. What started as a regional operation in China has evolved into a globally ambitious brand now competing not just on price, but increasingly on technology, branding, and OEM partnerships.
A Brief History of Rapid Growth
Founded in 1975 in Zhaoyuan, China, Linglong initially focused on bias tyres before transitioning into radial tyre production during China’s industrial expansion. The company steadily scaled through the 1990s and 2000s, investing heavily in manufacturing capability and export markets.
Key milestones in Linglong’s evolution include:
- Expansion into international markets across Europe, Asia, and the Americas
- Establishment of global R&D centres, including in Germany
- Development of overseas manufacturing, including a major plant in Serbia
- Increasing involvement in motorsport and global sponsorships to build brand recognition
Today, Linglong is ranked among the world’s top tyre manufacturers, reflecting both production scale and global reach.
From Budget Roots to Brand Ambition
Linglong is no longer positioning itself purely as a budget tyre supplier. The brand has made a deliberate shift toward mid-tier credibility, investing in:
- European engineering and testing
- OEM homologation programs
- Motorsport and football sponsorships
- Modern manufacturing outside China (e.g., Serbia)
This mirrors the trajectory previously taken by brands like Hankook Tire and Kumho Tire, both of which successfully transitioned from value players into respected mid-range competitors.
The key question now is whether Linglong’s product performance can match its growing marketing presence.
New Product Focus: Dura Master Van Range

Linglong Dura Master Van
Designed for light trucks, vans, and motorhomes, the new Dura Master Van range focuses on the key metrics that matter most to commercial users:
- High mileage durability through a wider contact patch and robust construction
- Lower rolling resistance, improving fuel economy and operating costs
- Enhanced load capacity via reinforced carcass design
- Improved wet braking and handling using silica compounds and advanced sipe technology
This positions the tyre directly against established mid-tier commercial offerings.
Dura Master Van e (OEM Focus)
A specialised OEM version, the Dura Master Van e, has been developed specifically for vehicle manufacturers, highlighting Linglong’s growing ambitions in factory-fit supply.
European Development & Global Validation
- Developed at Linglong’s European R&D centre in Hanover
- Tested at IDIADA Proving Ground
- Additional validation at Linglong’s Sino Asia proving ground in China
- Manufactured in Zrenjanin, Serbia for global distribution.
A further expansion to the product lineup, the Dura Master Van 4S (all-season variant), is planned for late 2026.

Located in Zrenjanin, Serbia, its first European factory, has been producing tyres since 2023. With a €1 billion investment the state-of-the-art facility is capable of producing up to 14 million tyres annually at full capacity.
Spanning a 97-hectare site, the plant has already secured OEM approvals from major manufacturers including Volkswagen, Ford and Hyundai, positioning it as a key hub for Linglong’s European expansion.
Linglong is a brand to watch.
It embodies the modern Chinese tyre story: scale first, then technology, then brand. The company is now firmly in the third phase, investing heavily in perception, partnerships, and product development.
The success of ranges like the Dura Master Van will ultimately determine whether Linglong can:
- Break out of the budget category
- Earn trust in performance-critical segments
- Compete head-to-head with established mid-tier brands
The marketing is already there. The next step is proving it on the road.
Linglong tyres are already available in Australia through platforms like Tyroola, and you can expect the Dura Master range to land locally with competitive online pricing.
