Dunlop Launches New Blue Response TG Touring Tyre for Australian Drivers

Dunlop has expanded its Australian passenger car range with the launch of the new Blue Response TG, a premium touring tyre designed for everyday motorists seeking improved wet weather performance, ride comfort and durability across a broad range of modern passenger vehicles.

Replacing previous generations of Dunlop’s touring offerings, the Blue Response TG has been developed for petrol, hybrid and electric vehicles, reflecting the changing demands of Australia’s passenger car market. Available in sizes from 15 to 19 inches, the tyre targets many of Australia’s most popular vehicles, including hatchbacks, small SUVs and family sedans.

A New Chapter for the Dunlop Brand

The launch of the Blue Response TG also marks one of the first major passenger tyre releases in Australia following the return of the Dunlop brand to its long-term owner, Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI).

In May 2025, SRI completed its acquisition of the Dunlop consumer tyre business in Europe, North America and Oceania from Goodyear, reuniting the brand under a single global owner after years of shared regional ownership.

The move forms part of Sumitomo’s long-term global strategy to strengthen Dunlop as one of its flagship tyre brands alongside Falken, while continuing to expand its original equipment and replacement market presence worldwide.

A New Generation of Touring Performance

According to Dunlop, the Blue Response TG has been engineered to provide balanced performance across the areas that matter most to everyday drivers.

Key design features include:

  • Intelligent three-zone rib pattern for improved straight-line stability
  • Optimised shoulder block design to enhance braking and cornering stability
  • Advanced polymer tread compound aimed at improving grip while extending tread life
  • Offset lateral groove design intended to reduce pattern noise inside the cabin
  • EV-ready construction designed to meet the higher load and torque demands of electric vehicles.

Rather than chasing outright sporting performance, the Blue Response TG focuses on delivering predictable handling, quieter operation and long-distance comfort for everyday commuting and highway driving.

One of the most notable aspects of the Blue Response TG is its EV-ready design.

While many tyre manufacturers now produce dedicated electric vehicle tyres, Dunlop has instead developed a touring tyre intended to perform across internal combustion, hybrid and electric vehicles without creating a separate product line.

The company says the tyre has been engineered to balance rolling resistance, durability and cabin refinement while coping with the additional weight and instant torque characteristics commonly associated with electric vehicles. These remain manufacturer claims and will require independent testing to validate real-world performance.

Broad Size Coverage

The Blue Response TG launches with an extensive range covering many of Australia’s highest-volume passenger vehicles.

This allows fitments across vehicles ranging from compact city cars through to larger passenger sedans and crossovers, including popular models such as the Toyota Corolla, Mazda3 and Hyundai i30, depending on the original equipment tyre size.

Dunlop Extends MAXX Protection to Blue Response TG

MAXX Protection Header

The launch of the Blue Response TG also sees the tyre included in Dunlop Australia’s MAXX Protection Guarantee, joining the SP Sport Maxx 060+ and Grandtrek PT5 as the only products currently covered by the program.

The guarantee provides a free like-for-like replacement tyre if an eligible Blue Response TG suffers an unrepairable puncture during normal on-road use within the first 12 months of ownership, provided the original tyre has worn less than 25% of its tread depth.

While this offers additional peace of mind for consumers, the program comes with several conditions that buyers should understand before relying on the cover.

Firstly, eligibility only applies when four qualifying Dunlop tyres are purchased in a single transaction and fitted by a participating Dunlop dealer. The guarantee does not apply to individual tyre purchases, original equipment (OE) tyres fitted by vehicle manufacturers, OE-specification replacement tyres, Dunlop run-flat tyres or the Direzza performance range.

The program is also designed specifically for private passenger vehicle use. Tyres used in commercial applications, including taxis, ride-share vehicles, courier fleets and hire cars, are excluded, as are tyres used in motorsport or driven on unsealed roads.

Consumers should also be aware that MAXX Protection is not a free replacement service. While Dunlop supplies the replacement tyre itself, the owner remains responsible for fitting costs, balancing, valve replacement, environmental disposal fees and any applicable taxes. If the damaged tyre can be safely repaired rather than replaced, the repair cost is also borne by the consumer.

To remain eligible, owners must retain their original purchase invoice and demonstrate that routine tyre maintenance has been performed, including maintaining correct inflation pressures, regular tyre rotations and wheel alignments where required.

Claims must be lodged through a participating Dunlop dealer by presenting the damaged tyre, vehicle and proof of purchase.

As with most tyre protection programs, understanding the eligibility requirements and exclusions before purchase is just as important as knowing the benefits.

Why It Matters

Australia’s passenger car tyre market has increasingly shifted towards products that combine comfort, low noise and fuel efficiency without sacrificing wet weather safety.

For many motorists, outright sporting capability ranks well behind predictable handling during heavy rain, long tread life and everyday driving comfort. Those priorities become even more important as hybrids and electric vehicles continue gaining market share.

The Blue Response TG positions Dunlop directly within this growing premium touring segment, competing against established products from brands such as Michelin, Continental, Bridgestone, Goodyear and Yokohama.

What It Means for Australian Drivers

The Blue Response TG appears to represent a significant update to Dunlop’s Australian passenger car portfolio by combining modern tread technology with EV compatibility in a tyre aimed squarely at mainstream motorists rather than performance enthusiasts.

For tyre retailers, the new range provides another premium touring option suitable for a broad mix of passenger vehicles, simplifying recommendations as more hybrid and electric models enter Australian showrooms.

We look forward to seeing what the consumer feedback is on this new tyre line, however it’s mostly mainstream in fitments for small hatchbacks, sedans and a few hot hatch fitments, where the everyday Aussie driver is just looking for a cost effective, comfortable and quiet tyre that gives good mileage performance.
